Which players were voted in as MLS All-Stars? Chicharito, Nani, Ruidíaz...

A combined fan, media and player vote was one of three ways the MLS All-Star roster was chosen for the 2021 MLS All-Star Game against Liga MX All-Stars.

Thirteen of the 28 members of the MLS All-Star roster for the 2021 MLS All-Star Game were chosen by a combined fan, media and player vote, one of three paths to the team.

MLS All-Stars to take on best of the Liga MX

The MLS All-Stars face the Liga MX All-Stars at Banc of California Stadium, Los Angeles, on Wednesday 25 August (9pm EDT, 6pm PDT).

Supporters, reporters and MLS players were given the chance to choose their preferred XI, with the most-voted player in each position making the All-Star roster. The two players with the next-highest number of votes overall were also added to the squad.

• Yeimar (defender, Seattle Sounders, Colombia)

• Alex Roldan (defender, Seattle Sounders, El Salvador)

• Nouhou (defender, Seattle Sounders, Cameroon)

• Lucas Zelarayán (midfielder, Columbus Crew, Argentina)

• Cristian Roldan (midfielder, Seattle Sounders, US)

• João Paulo (midfielder, Seattle Sounders, Brazil)

• Carles Gil (midfielder, New England Revolution, Spain)

• Carlos Vela (forward, LAFC, Mexico)

• Raúl Ruidíaz (forward, Seattle Sounders, Peru)

• Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández (forward, LA Galaxy, Mexico)

• Nani (forward, Orlando City, Portugal)

Cristian Roldan, who is one of six Seattle Sounders players who made it onto the roster via the vote, has also been chosen by the fans as the captain of the MLS All-Stars.

What were the other paths to the MLS All-Star roster?

As well as the players chosen for the MLS All-Stars via a vote, a further 13 footballers were selected by the team’s head coach, LAFC boss Bob Bradley, while two more men were picked by MLS commissioner Don Garber.
