Transfer News: Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid
Real Madrid is trying everything in their power to acquire the 22-year old French player, with their latest bid of 170 million euros bringing them closer.
The transfer window closes on Tuesday, and Real Madrid has been determined to seal the deal for Kylian Mbappé. On Thursday, PSG and Real Madrid had positive talks to move the deal forward after Real Madrid proposed a second bid of €170m.
PSG previously turned down Real Madrid's opening offer of €160m on Wednesday. But Mbappé has said it's his dream to play for the Spanish side.
PSG signed Mbappé in 2018 from Monaco in a €180m deal and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has said, "we're not going to let him go for less than what we paid for him, when we still owe Monaco money." So far, they've only only paid €145m, owing the rest for when Mbappé renews, or they sell him.
"We have no plans to talk to Real Madrid again. The deadline is August 31 at midnight," Al-Khelaifi said. That's how the transfer window is, but we are clear about this: we want to keep him and extend his deal.
Mbappé's stats and scores
It's easy to see why PSG wouldn't want to lose a player like Mbappé. With 133 goals and 63 assists in just 174 games, Mbappé is one of soccer's greatest players already. He's not even 23 yet, and he's already in the top five major leagues and has made it into third place in PSG's all-time scoring charts.
