Kanye West: The long-awaited “Donda” album finally released
After teasing the album several times, Kanye West has finally officially released “Donda”, with contributions by JAY-Z, the Weekend, and many more.
As the Mbappé saga continues with no updates, we do finally have one other saga’s end to celebrate while we wait. Kanye West has finally released his newest album. “Donda” was first scheduled to come out last Summer before being postponed indefinitely. Then, there was supposed to be an album cover, but then there wasn’t. There was even a film planned that just went away, never to return. During this wait time, West was continuing to make headlines for other obscure reasons like his divorce from Kim Kardashian, a failed attempt at a presidential campaign, and a series of bizarre tweets.
Other artists on the Donda album
Now the album is finally available, and it comes after a controversial listening party which Marilyn Manson and DaBaby attended. One of the songs, “Jail” lists Brian Warner (Marilyn Manson’s real name) as a composer and lyricist. The album features several other rappers and artists, including JAY-Z (on “Jail”), the Weeknd, Jay Electronica, the Lox, Young Thug, the late Pop Smoke, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Kid Cudi, Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, Baby Keem, Playboi Carti, Ty Dolla $ign, Don Toliver, Fivio Foreign, and Chris Brown. Producers include Boi-1da, Mike Dean, E.Vax of Ratatat, 88 Keys, Swizz Beatz, Wheezy, and Gesaffelstein.
Themes of Donda
The album is named after his mother, Donda West, who passed away in 2007. She is heavily featured in the album. In addition to that, the album makes references to his divorce and his family, the fact that he went to the White House to ask for Larry Hoover’s freedom, and of course, his Christian beliefs.
