Sony is set to release new details on a raft of upcoming PlayStation 5 games in its September event. Here's everything you need to know to stream it live.

Update:
Sony is set to release new details on a raft of upcoming PlayStation 5 games in its September event. Here's everything you need to know to stream it live.

Sony will host a PlayStation Showcase on Thursday, 9 September with updates and big reveals expected on a number of hotly anticipated new PS5 games. The press release promises exciting information on upcoming games "releasing this holiday and beyond.

Since the console was first released last November retailers have faced an ongoing struggle to maintain stock of the PS5, with it quickly selling out due to the huge demand. It is thought that Sony will be focusing on a big push for the upcoming holiday shopping season and will be introducing a range of new titles to ramp up the hype.

How and when can I watch the September PlayStation Showcase?

The event will be live-streamed on Thursday, 9 September, going live from 1pm PT (4pm ET, 9pm BST, or 8am Friday AEST)

If you want to tune in the Showcase will be streamed live on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels. The main presentation will be given by Sony but a series of game developers are expected to feature afterwards to give additional information on the upcoming games coming from their studios.

If you can’t make it for the live show the whole event will be available to watch on demand on Sony’s YouTube channel soon after the original broadcast.

What to expect from the September PlayStation Showcase

As mentioned, the main focus for Thursday’s event will be on upcoming PS5 games, so don’t expect any big reveals on the future of Sony’s VR projects or any hardware announcements. However there should be more information on some hotly-anticipated titles that are expected to drop in the coming months.

A PS5-enhanced edition of Grand Theft Auto 5 is expected to hit digital shelves in November and developer Rockstar has promised some “fun surprises” to mark the 20-year anniversary of the release of Grand Theft Auto 3 in October 2001. GTA fans will be hoping for a closer look at what the re-imagined title will include.

God of War Ragnorak was first announced more than a year ago but we are still yet to get a real look at the game, or get a timeframe for release. The upcoming Horizon Forbidden West is not scheduled for release until February 2022 but we should hear more about the PlayStation first-party exclusive.

The PS5 games lineup could also be bolstered by sequels to some of the most highly acclaimed PS4 games. Rumours have been circulating about Death Stranding 2 and a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man so it would not be a surprise to get confirmation of them on Thursday.
