Cowboys OL Ty Nsekhe is hospitalized and will miss Sunday's game

The Dallas player had to spend Thursday night at a hospital after being taken from practice by an ambulance.

The Dallas Cowboys announced that offensive lineman Ty Nsekhe had spent the night at a local hospital after he had been taken there by an ambulance straight from practice. The franchise has yet to explain what happened, but it's related to a heat illness.

This is the second time that the Dallas team had a similar episode. Last year one of the staff member, coach Markus Paul, collapsed while in the weight room and unfortunately lost his life a few days later.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy explained that the player had been released from the hospital and is well. He will miss this Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Charger.

"I think anytime you're dealing with heat issues, it's never comfortable," McCarthy told reporters. "I think when an individual needs to get an IV, being dehydrated is an uncomfortable feeling. You have guys that may have cramped after hot practice like that but it's never a comfortable feeling."

Avoiding a 0-2 record

For the Cowboys, the gameplay for Sunday is to avoid starting the season with a 0-2 record. Week one has a crazy one for the Dallas team, where they felt they could beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and had a real chance to do so. But in the end, they lost on the last play by QB Tom Brady.

Injury stricken Cowboys

In addition, the Cowboys will not have their starting defensive ends, Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence. Gregory is on the COVID list, while Lawrence suffered a broken foot, and that will have him out for eight weeks. And now Ty Nsekhe will be out for this game.
