Dolphins QB Tagovailoa on injured reserve, to miss at least 3 games
The Miami Dolphins have placed Tua Tagovailoa on the injured reserve list due to fractured ribs, and the starting quarterback will miss action for at least three weeks.
Tagovailoa had already been declared out of commission for Week 3’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Now it looks like he will be sidelined for an even longer period of time.
The quarterback injured his ribs in the Dolphins’ loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, after getting hit by Bills defensive end AJ Epenesa. He had to be carted off the field.
Tagovailoa: From day-to-day to injured reserve
He was initially declared day-to-day by head coach Brian Flores after initial x-ray results came back negative, then week-to-week after additional tests showed he had fractured ribs. He was eventually placed on injured reserve.
Being on this list means he will miss at least three weeks of play, including Week 4’s game against the Indianapolis Colts at home and Week 5’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida.
The Alabama alum is no stranger to being hurt on the field- he suffered hip and posterior wall injuries during his stint with the Crimson Tide.
The team hopes Tagovailoa will be ready to rejoin the lineup on Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a match that will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Brissett to start for Dolphins
With Tagovailoa out, veteran Jacoby Brissett will call the shots as starting quarterback for the moment, while Reid Sinnett has been put on the active roster to serve as his backup.
Brissett completed 60% of his passes for 169 yardsw with one interception after he took Tagovailoa’s place against the Bills.
The 28-year-old Brissett, who signed up with the Dolphins this season on a one-year contract, has started 32 games his career, the last of which was for the Indianapolis Colts two years ago.
