Mbappé: "My position is clear. I said that I wanted to go"

In an interview with RMC Sport, PSG player Mbappé cleared the air after some rumors that he waited until the last minute to request a transfer.

Update:

Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappé told RMC Sports in an interview that he let the club know his wishes to leave in July. Real Madrid was pining for the French player, but PSG refused to let him join in the 2021 transfer window (though according to teammate Benzema - it's just a matter of time). Mbappé accepted. He kept quiet about the whole transfer saga, until now.

"I announced it with enough time for the club to be able to maneuver," Mbappé told Jerome Rothen of RMC Sport. "My hope was that we could both benefit and find a good deal."

He rejected rumors that he had not given any warning, that he rejected several renewal deals, and that he and PSG's director Leonardo Araújo had not spoken. "That is absolutely false," he said.

Mbappé said that he is grateful to the club and that though he wanted to leave, he is still happy there for now. "I told them, 'if you don't want me to go, then I'll stay.'"
