Bosa got "under my skin" says QB Carr after Raiders loss in LA

What’s division play in the NFL without a little trash talk? The Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers squared off on Monday night, and the war of words wasn’t left on the field.

Derek Carr responded to a post game press conference Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa made, claiming the former Ohio State Buckeye’s statements didn’t sit too lightly with him.

"I just thought it was unfortunate that he'd even think to say it," Carr said. "Maybe he was just trying to get under my skin. Which, he did piss me off. So, good job for that. But that's not a bad thing, either."

Bosa spoke about Carr’s ability to handle pressure and the affect it had on him throughout the Chargers 28-14 win over their division rival.

"We knew once we hit him a few times, he really gets shook," Bosa said at the time. "And you saw on [Christian Covington's fourth-quarter] sack he was pretty much curling into a ball before we even got back there.

"So, great dude, great player. He's been having a great year, but we knew once we get pressure on him, he kind of shuts down and he's not as effective with a crowded pocket, so that was the key to it."

The Raiders had a dreadful first half, amounting to just 51 total yards in a first half that saw them go down 21-0. Carr was hit seven times and sacked four times including the Covington six sack that made the Daniel Carlson missed field goal that much longer.

Chargers shut down Carr and league leading pass game

Carr, and the Raiders were given a shot of life in the second half and had came to within a touchdown of tying the game, but fell short as they were handed their first loss of the season.

The Raiders have one of the best offenses in the league, and Carr leads the NFL in passing yards through four weeks with a total of 1,399 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Las Vegas gunslinger could have got under the skin of the Chargers and their fan base when he said playing the Chargers, wether in L.A. or San Diego, was like a home game. Carr consequently had a season-low 196 yards.

Despite the sub-par performance, Raiders coach John Gruden backed his QB1 saying “We love our quarterback, and we think he’s having a hell of a year and going to continue to do so.”

While Carr was feeling the love from Gruden, he say that he has plenty of love for Bosa,

"And he knows that," Carr said. "We've gone back and forth. He was probably mad because I was talking a lot of crap to him during the game. It was an emotional day for them. Saw a lot of things about their whole team after. Good thing it's a new week. He's entitled to that opinion and saying those things. But it's almost like he watched the game in reverse.

The Chargers will travel to Las Vegas to play the Raiders in the regular season finale on January
