QATAR 2022

What's the USA roster for World Cup qualifiers against Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica?

Gregg Berhalter's side currently sit third in the CONCACAF octagonal group which would be enough to secure a tichet for the Qatar World Cup in 2022. His side made their debut on the road in the round-robin with a scoreless draw against El Salvador on 2 September and then tied 1-1 at home to Canada three days later.

The United States finally claimed maximum points when they visited Honduras on 8 September bagging a 4-1 away win to set the side up well for three key fixtures in the latest international window as the USMNT face Jamaica (home), Panama (away) and Costa Rica at home in three games that will go some way in shaping the eight team group.

Berhalter's absences

US coach Gregg Berhalter's team will have to do without key star Christian Pulisic who is still recovering from the ankle injury sustained in the 4-1 victory against Honduras in the last qualifying match.

Another of the young talents, Gio Reyna, Borussia Dortmund forward, also failed to make the trip with a hamstring problem ruling him out of the Jamaica game.

Berhalter, who also does not have forward Josh Sargent (Norwich City) who is also ruled out with hamstring issues but is quietly confident that both Pulisic and Reyna could be ready for the last game of the October series against Costa Rica..."I would not rule them out completely," said the 48-year-old coach.

Defender John Brooks however is a guaranteed absentee with the Wolfsburg central defender suffering from a back issue with Berhalter also using the window to reinstate Weston McKennie, with the Juve man originally removed from the team during the September date for breaching the covid protocols.
