Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder fighting purse: how much money are they making?

The British and the American contenders will fight for the third time, with the winner expected to face the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in a megafight next year.

Update:
Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder fighting purse: how much money are they making?

Heavyweight superstars Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will face each other for the third time next Saturday, in what will be the second big boxing event in only seven days after the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk that took place in London.

The trilogy bout for the WBC heavyweight title will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and whoever emerges victorious in Sin City will step into the ring against Usyk in an unification super fight that would happen in 2022.

The Fury vs Wilder 3 fight was initially scheduled to take place on 24 July but after Fury tested positive for covid-19 the date was pushed back to October.

Another showdown between these two contenders wasn’t expected, as the fight most boxing fans wanted to see was Fury against Joshua in an all-British clash for the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, but Wilder got the courts involved to invoke a rematch clause.

The Gypsy King came out on top from their second showdown in February 2020 by stopping the Bronze Bomber in the seventh round following a draw in their first bout in December 2018.

How much will they earn in their third fight?

The fight purse will reportedly be split 60-40 in favour of Fury, who goes into the ring as the favorite with an unbeaten record in his 31 professional fights. The British fighter is guaranteed $30m (£22m, €26m) and 60% of the pay-per-view revenue.

Meanwhile, Wilder, whose only defeat in his professional career was against Fury, is guaranteed $20m (£15m,€17m) and 40% of the PPV cash.

With the promoters reportedly expecting to rake in $100m (£73.5m, €86m) from PPV sales, both men are set to leave the ring considerably richer.

How much did they make in their previous fights?

The first time they fought back in 2018 the boxers were reportedly guaranteed $4 million (Wilder) and $3 million (Tyson).

In their second fight in 2020 both fighters were guaranteed a purse of $5 million plus a percentage of pay-per-view profits.

Both boxers went home with a purse of about $25 million after pay-per-view receipts were added.
