Luis Enrique: "It looked offside to me, but I can't control these things"
The coach gave his thoughts on Spain's performance in the Nations League final: "We were left without the cup, but we matched the current world champions man for man".
Luis Enrique chatted to Teledeporte following Spain's defeat to France in Sunday's Nations League final.
Spain defeated but gave a good account: "We're going home without the cup but we competed man to man with the reigning world champions, and matched them in terms of quality and physical strength. We struggled at first, but later we were aggressive and took the game where we wanted it to go. We took the lead, but France were back in it within a minute so we didn't get a chance to catch our breath".
Mbappé, possible offside: "From where I was on the bench, it looked offside, but I will keep to my policy of not talking about things which I have no control over".
Thoughts on the game: "I don't know how it looked from the outside but I felt we competed really well against a great national team like France. Nevertheless it's a bit disappointing for the players and the fans".
Gavi: "It's very important than anyone who is called for the national team comes along to help. We create that competition within the squad and I hope to have a lot of problemns the next time I have to draw up the list. Every time we bring in someone new, they deliver. Just look at Gavi and Yéremy Pino, the strength and quality they have. All of the players have been superb".
Benzema: "He's one of the 30 candidates for the Ballon d'Or. Strikers tend to be spectacular and do spectacular things. We are very happy with Pedri, Azpilicueta and Gerard Moreno".
