It seems like ages ago that Baltimore lost on opening week amidst their early season injury crisis. The Ravens were a deflected pass and interception away from winning that game against the Raiders and having one of two undefeated records in the entire NFL.
The Colts new look offense has yet to take off. They are 22nd in scoring and 25th in yards per game.
As always the spotlight will be on the former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson who is coming off one of the best passing games of his career. He had over 300 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos in Week 4.
Hello everyone and welcome to MT&T Stadium where the Ravens will be hoping to keep pace with the rest of the AFC leaders at 4-1.
The Baltimore Ravens have a finish Week 5 of the NFL regular season at 4-1 and a tie for the best record in the AFC. The Indianapolis Colts come make the journey east after winning just once in their opening four games. AS English will be keeping you up to date with live coverage, stats, scores and highlights from MT&T Stadium.
Ravens could end night with best record in AFC
After dropping their season opener in overtime to the Las Vegas Raiders the Ravens have rattled off three straight wins. It hasn’t been as comfortable as their record might dictate. Coach John Harbaugh’s side beat the Chiefs in a one point shoot out win, and the broke the Lions heart with a record breaking 66-yard game winning Justin Tucker field goal to edge Detroit 19-17.
Last week Lamar Jackson had one of his all time best passing performances against the Denver Broncos. The former NFL MVP threw for 316 yards and a touchdown on 22/37 passing, while running for another 28 yards.
Baltimore D tightening up
The Baltimore defense seems to have course corrected after a bumpy start to the season in which they gave up 34 points per game through the first two weeks. Since then, the historically stingy Ravens D has given up just 12 points a game over their last two contests.
Indianapolis finally got on the winning track with a 27-17 win over the Miami Dolphins last week. Their offseason acquisition Carson Wentz has been steady in his first few games in the horseshoe helmet, but last week he played the role of game manager to a tee. He had a sky high completion percentage, completing 24/32 passes and had two touchdowns on 228 yards in the air.
Starting running back Johnathan Taylor had his first 100 yard outing of the sesaon posting 103 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
What is the Colts plan for Lamar Jackson?
The Colts secondary will have to be vigilant of this new look Lamar Jackson who has been locked in with the deep ball this year. We all know about Jackson’s ability with his feet, but Jackson’s four passing touchdowns have come from the long ball. If he continues this trend opposing defenses will have to play him more honestly down the field which will open up all sorts of space for the former Louisville Cardinal to rack up yards with his legs.
There’s little doubt that the Ravens will base their offense around Jackson and the run game that has reached 100 yards in a record tying 44 consecutive games, but the Colts defensive unit is 29th in the league against the pass. Coach Harbaugh and the Ravens will look to exploit that as Carson Wentz will be hoping improve upon last week’s performance in the win against the Dolphins.
Kick off from Baltimore is set for 8:15 p.m. ET
