Ramos could make PSG debut this Friday
French outlet Le Parisien reports that Sergio Ramos is in line for possible inclusion in the PSG squad for Friday’s game against Angers at Parc des Princes.
PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino will not be able to count on any of his South American internationals for his side’s clash with Angers on Friday, as that group of players will be competing for their respective countries just hours before in the final round of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying fixtures during this latest international break.
With the South Americans players (including Lionel Messi, Neymar, Marquinhos, Mauro Icardi and Angél Di María) not due to fly back to Paris until Friday at the earliest, Poch will have a depleted pool of players to choose from. But one major novelty could be the inclusion of Sergio Ramos, who may finally make his debut for PSG following his arrival from Real Madrid in the summer.
Ramos’s injury struggles
Ramos has yet to feature for his new club due to a calf issue that has plagued him since July. While the 35-year-old center back was initially expected to return to action after the international break in September, his struggle to make a full recovery from his calf struggles has extended his spell on the sidelines. But following this most recent international break, the former Madrid captain could find himself named in Pochettino’s squad for the first time, according to reports in France.
French outlet Le Parisien reports that Ramos and Juan Bernat, who has been out of action for more than a year due to a ligament injury, are both in line for possible inclusion in the squad for Friday’s game against Angers at Parc des Princes.
Although Pochettino played down the chances of Ramos’s return for the Angers game before PSG’s previous match against Rennes, there is no doubt the Spaniard’s recovery is on the right track and he is eager to make his return.
And with the absence of Brazilian center-back Marquinhos, the chances of Ramos starting against Angers appear to be growing, although the PSG coaching team do not want to take risks with the long-term injury-plagued 35-year-old, who has played just one game since mid-January, which was Real Madrid’s 2-1 win against Elche on 13 March.
