Manchester City to hold talks with Erling Haaland in January

The Premier League outfit have entered the race to sign the Norwegian striker, complicating Real Madrid's chances of signing him in the summer of 2022.

Manchester City to hold talks with Erling Haaland in January

With Manchester City also now in the running to sign Erling Haaland next summer, Real Madrid will find it even more difficult to convince the in-demand striker to move to Spain.

The transfer window has yet to open and European clubs are already preparing to line up a bid for Haaland. Among the interested parties are Manchester City, who according to The Times on Wednesday, will sit down with the player's agent Mino Raiola in January.

European sides in for Haaland

Haaland has been linked with City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Barcelona and Juventus.

Next summer will be key in the future of the Norwegian striker. Haaland is determined to leave Borussia Dortmund and the Bundesliga club will listen to offers for their goalscoring machine next summer.

Haaland is one of the most sought-after players on the continent and his entourage are well aware of this interest. Mino Raiola already did a mini-tour of Spain last April, when he visited Real Madrid and Barça. Raiola was accompanied by the player's father, Alf-Inge Haaland, who played for Man City before they became the force they currently are.

Real Madrid know that the presence of English clubs in the bidding war is something that they will have to overcome to get Haaland, however, Los Blancos do have the money to buy Haaland. LaLiga president, Javier Tebas, admitted that Madrid could bring in the Norwegian and Kylian Mbappé next summer, given their current financial position. But even with LaLiga's approval, the financial strength of the Premier League clubs will be the hurdle that Madrid will have to get over.

Haaland is valued at €150 million, the player with the second highest market value on Transfermarkt, only behind Mbappé. Madrid will also have to consider his large salary and the commission that Mino Raiola will demand.

PSG to offer Haaland same deal as Mbappé

According to Footmercato, the Parisian club will tempt the Norwegian with the same terms of the renewal offer with which they are trying to convince Mbappé to stay at the Parc des Princes: a two year contract plus an optional third year with a salary of around €40 million. The Norwegian is their top priority if they fail to keep Mbappé. The fight for the Scandinavian's signature in the coming months will be fierce.
