Leicester City 4-2 Manchester United: as it happened

Leicester City are 11th after today's impressive home win over Manchester United.

Manchester United sit in 5th after today's defeat.

Leicester win a six-goal thriller at the King Power Stadium.

Manchester United lose their first game on the road since January 2020.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now under even more pressure.

FT: Leicester City 4-2 Manchester United

Bruno chips a ball over the Leicester defence into the path of Ronaldo. He can't reach the cross and Schmeichel collects.

Manchester United have three minutes to score two goals...

Leicester City 4-2 Manchester United

Daka is all alone at the back post and taps into an empty net following a Tielemans cross from the left. Leicester have surely won it now...

There will be five minutes added on!

Manchester United chance!

Bruno sends in a wonderful ball from the right for Ronaldo. Amartey clears the danger for the home side.

Leicester change:

OFF Evans

ON Vestergaard

Leicester go up the other end and respond straight away. Ayoze Pérez picks out Vardy with some great play down the left. The veteran striker's shot spins away from De Gea and the place goes mental!

It's Jamie Vardy with a super strike with the outside of his right foot.

Leciester take the lead! What a game...

Lindelof's long ball finds Rashford, who buries his shot beyond Schmeichel.

Leicester City 2-1 Manchester United

Leicester's corner from the right falls to Daka at the back post. The sub shoots and his shot falls to Soyuncu with an empty net gaping. The defender gives Leicester the lead at the King Power.

United hit City on the break through Rashford, who picks out Ronaldo. Schmeichel saves Ronaldo's rising strike and the Portuguese is flagged for offside.

Tieleman off the post!

It's a super save by De Gea to deny the Belgian a second.

The second half has been tighter than the first. With 20 minutes to go, it's hard to call a winner here but with Vardy and Ronaldo on the pitch, anything is possible.

Leicester change:

OFF James Maddison

ON Ayoze Pérez

Ayoze Pérez is about to come in for Leicester.

Amartey is down for Leicester. It remains to be seen if he can play on.

He loves a strike from distance and this one is no different. Pogba puts it on a plate for Bruno. His strike from outside the box flies wide. 1-1

Manchester United change:

OFF Sancho

ON Rashford

It's a brilliant chance for United. Schmeichel saves Greenwood's effort from five yards out. It should really be 2-1 to United.

The ball hasn't gone out for two and a half minutes. Rashford is standing with his hands on his hips on the sideline!

I think he'll replace Sancho.

Rashford is waiting for the ball to go out of play so he can finally make his return.

Ronaldo finds Wan-Bissaka down the right. The full-back's cross lands in Schmeichel's hands.

Marcus Rashford is about to come in for Manchester United.

Tielemans, who scored Leicester's goal in the first half, shoots with his left foot from 20 yards. It's well wide. He won't be happy with that one. It remains 1-1 at the King Power Stadium.

MATIC strikes!

It's a sweet strike by the midfielder but it's always rising and sails over Schmeichel's crossbar.

Lindelof picks up a booking for taking out Vardy from behind.

Mason Greenwood!

Greenwood shifts the ball left and unleashes an effort from 20 yards that sails high and wide. 1-1

Iheanacho does well to get his shot away in the box. It doesn't have the power he was hoping for and De Gea gets down to his left to save.

Leicester get us underway for the second half!

HT: Leicester City 1-1 Manchester United

Maddison plays it short to Tielemans, who crosses for Vardy. The veteran striker can't quite get a foot to the cross and the referee blows for half-time.

We're halfway through the three additional minutes.

Leicester have a free-kick about 35-40 yards from goal.

Bruno crosses for Ronaldo at the back post but Pereira heads the danger away. Ronaldo was in mid-air/bicycle kick mode as the right-back cleared.

Tielemans, in a similar position to where he scored his goal from, looks to pick out Vardy at the back post but overhits the cross.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been very quiet in the first half.

Leicester go close again!

Tielemans picks out Iheanacho. Maguire backs off the Nigerian striker before he drags a left-footed strike wide of De Gea's left-hand post.

Leicester free-kick. Maddison plays it short to Pereira. United clear the right-back's cross.

Solskjaer will be furious with how his side conceded the goal but take nothing away from the finish.

Iheanacho presses Maguire, wins the ball off the defender and plays it to Tielemans. The Belgian curls his effort first time up and over De Gea. It's a wonderful finish.

TIELEMANS scores for Leicester!

Both sides have had their chances in the opening half an hour. It could be more than 1-0 to the away side.

Maguire's header goes just wide from another excellent Bruno Fernandes corner.

Ricardo Pereira almost makes it 1-1.

Maddison picks him out with a perfectly weighted diagonal cross. The right-back sneaks in at the back post and his cross-cum-shot goes just wide!

Ronaldo wins a corner for Man United. Bruno crosses it but there is a foul on Johnny Evans. Schmeichel to take the free out.

Leicester City 0-1 Manchester United

Man United take the lead through Mason Greenwood.

It's a stunning strike from the young forward. Bruno lays the ball off to him, and from the right side of the box, he sends a bullet across Schmeichel and in off the far post to give Solskjaer's men the lead.

Greenwood scores!!!

Corner for Man United. Bruno Fernandes sends it in. Pogba heads over the bar. It's a super cross from Bruno but the Frenchman can't keep it down.

Greenwood runs from deep, nobody from Leicester closes him down and he decides to shot from 20 yards. Schmeichel saves it with ease. It's straight at the big Dane.

It has been a lively start here at the King Power Stadium. Maddison turns Maguire, works a yard for himself and shoots from a tight angle. It's straight at De Gea. Brendan Rodgers will be pleased with the attitude shown so far.

Soyuncu sends a curling through ball into Iheanacho. Maguire reads it well and clears. 0-0

Pogba fouls Amartey. Free-kick to Leicester.

Kasper Schmeichel sends a pass straight into touch and it's a throw-in for United.

Sancho plays a diagonal cross from the left wing. It's intended for Ronaldo. The winger sends it too far ahead of the Portuguese forward and into the hands of Schmeichel.

Harry Maguire has returned to the starting eleven for the away side. Cristiano Ronaldo starts up front. Vardy and Iheanacho start up front for Leicester.

Leicester are playing from left to right as we watch it. Manchester United are playing in their red shirt with black shorts and white socks.

Manchester United get us underway!

The teams make their way out onto the pitch.

Solskjaer urged Rashford to prioritise his football career moving forward

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants forward Marcus Rashford to focus on football following his recovery from a shoulder injury.

"I know that we will see the best of Marcus in the years to come," Solskjaer told reporters. "He has done remarkable things at a young age but he is now coming into the best age for a footballer and he is more experienced.

"He has [had] time to reflect. You know what he has done off the pitch as well, because he has done some fantastic things, and now to prioritise, maybe prioritise his football and focus on football because he's got a challenge on his hands here at Manchester United, he has a challenge on his hands to play for England.

"I think Marcus is one of those who takes up those challenges and is going to.

"He is going to express himself and his talent and he knows that we want a lot from him but we are going to give him the time to get back to what he was and what he can be."

Leicester-Man Utd: Where they stand

Ahead of Premier League matchday 8, United sit in fourth place with 14 points, two points behind leaders Chelsea, while Leicester find themselves languishing in 13th with just two wins from seven games.

Brendan Roger’s men will hope star man Jamie Vardy will find the goals to secure the win at home against the Red Devils as they look to get themselves back into the top half of the table. Vardy has managed to score in each of his last three Premier League appearances.

Man Utd looking to end two-game winless run in EPL

Man Utd will look to get back to winning ways after having picked up just one point from a possible six in their last two games.

United lost to Aston Villa at Old Trafford on 25 September before seeing out a 1-1 draw, again at home, against Everton. Solskjaer came in for heavy criticism for starting Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench for the game against the Toffees, and the Portuguese star is a virtual certainty to start this time.
