According to UK press reports, Mohamed Salah’s agent is in talks with Liverpool over an extension of the Egyptian striker’s contract.

However former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville sees Salah’s long term future away from Liverpool.

The Reds’ enjoyed an empathic 5-0 away at Watford on Saturday, where Salah netted a stunning Messi-esque goal that will surely be a contender for goal of the season, taking the ball around three defenders before coolly slotting home from a difficult angle.

Salah’s performance once again proved that he is one of the best players in the world and a player of his calibre will always be on the radar of Real Madrid, a club for which the Egyptian striker must experience playing at some point in his career, according to Neville.

Neville: Salah wants a Real Madrid, Barcelona or PSG

“I don’t think he will stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career. It's my personal view. It’s always been that view but I could be wrong. The Premier League would be weaker if he left,” said Neville, speaking on Sky Sports after the Watford-Liverpool game.

“I just think you look at someone like Cristiano Ronaldo, Beckham, Mbappé, it’s not all about the money. There’s a project and there’s something they have to achieve in their lives."

They have to play at certain clubs, they have to go and experience certain things.”

"I think Salah’s got to experience Real Madrid, the Bernabeu. Real Madrid are going to come back."

"I think he’s done an unbelievable job at Liverpool. I’ve just always felt he wants a Paris, a Real Madrid, a Barcelona and I think he’ll go and get it. But I might be wrong.”

Salah has scored 10 goals in 10 games across all competitions so far this season, bringing his total to 135 goals in 213 games since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017.

The 29-year-old’s striker current deal with Liverpool ends in June 2023 and with a current market value of $110 million, the likes of Barcelona, PSG or Real Madrid would undoubtedly have to pay big money to pry him from the Anfield outfit’s grip before that date.
