Apple's fall product launch is expected to see them release new iterations of the wildly popular headphones and flagship laptop devices in an online-only event.

Apple is expected to unveil a raft of new devices in its fall event ‘Unleashed’, one of the tech giant’s key annual product launches. The action is scheduled to begin on Monday, 18 October at 10:00am (PT) from the company’s Apple Park campus in California.

After the iPhone 13 was unveiled in September, it is thought that Monday’s event will focus on the next iteration of the MacBook Pro. The long-awaited AirPods 3 may also make an appearance during the online-only event, and there are rumours that sneak peaks at other upcoming devices could well be in the offing.

New MacBook Pro expected at Apple’s Unleashed event

For months now, rumours of an updated MacBook Pro have been circulating online and the company finally seems set to unveil further details of their new flagship laptop. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new products will boast a new M1X silicon chip, which should be much quicker than the M1 chip first introduced in November 2020

The new ten-core CPU, comprised of eight high-performance and two high-efficiency cores, will reportedly be included in both 14- and 16-inch editions of the new MacBook Pro. This is a notable departure from previous releases where smaller devices have been less powerful.

Physically the new MacBook is expected to be sleeker, with a slimmer body and smaller bezels around the screen. The OLED Touch Bar could well be removed to make way for a new strip of tactile function keys above the keyboard.

AirPods 13 could be released alongside MacBook

Judging on the reports circulating a third iteration of the AirPods is also expected in Monday’s event, which is thought to take its inspiration from the higher-end AirPods Pro which were released in 2019.

Reports from MacRumors suggest that the new AirPods would appear more similar aesthetically to previous Pro models, but without some of the higher spec technology like Active Noise Cancelling. They claim that the device’s sound quality will be improved and silicon ear-tips as an optional attachment could be included in the box.

Some supposedly leaked photos available online suggest that the AirPods 3 will feature a much shorter body than previous versions of the hugely popular headphones, which would allow the carry case/charger to be considerably more portable.
