Marquinhos insists there is no resentment towards Ramos at PSG
Some time ago there were reports that the Spanish defender's arrival hadn't gone down too well with PSG players such as Marquinhos and Kimpembe.
Sergio Ramos' summer move to Paris Saint-Germain hasn't gone quite as smoothly as he would have hoped. His ongoing fitness problems have meant he still hasn't made his debut for his new club almost four months after joining. And on top of that, it has been suggested that not everyone in the PSG squad was happy with the ex-Real Madrid captain's arrival.
For some time French media have been reporting that there was some resentment towards Ramos among members of the squad. According to Le Parisien, several first team players were annoyed with the decision to sign the Spanish central defender, which they feel was not necessary as that position is already well covered. With Marquinhos and Kimpembe as first choice starters, PSG had few reasons to reinforce the back four. It is possible that both players were the ones who were miffed at the club signing Ramos.
No bad feeling towards Ramos at PSG
But now Marquinhos has come out to clear up the rumours and insists that there is no problem whatsoever - on the contrary, he only has words of admiration for the Spanish defender. “Even though he has won everything there is to win and is enjoying an exceptional career, you can see that Sergio Ramos is still hungry for success. He has that character that makes champions, he is showing that he wants to be part of our quest to reach the objectives we have set. Unfortunately, he is still nout out on the field of play with us, that's where you create bonds with the team, and where we forge shared experiences. But it will come," he explained.
With those words from Marquinhos, it seems that if there was any issue with Sergio Ramos in the past, there isn't one now. The Brazilian has made it clear what his role is in the team and where he stands with the recent arrivals. Ramos, who signed a two-year deal with PSG, is one of the best-paid members of the first team squad and already enjoys similar status to what he had during his time at the Bernabéu.
For the moment, the Spaniard isn't considered a threat to either Marquinhos or Presnel Kimpembe, who has been a first choice since Thiago Silva departed in the summer of 2020. The French player might feel more threatened by Ramos' arrival than Marquinhos, the team's leader in defence at PSG.
