Braves vs. Astros: times, TV, radio and how to stream 2021 World Series game 2
The Atlanta Braves had a sensational start in Game 1 of the World Series, scoring five runs in the first three innings to top the Astros in Houston.
Game 1 of the World Series started with a bang for the Atlanta Braves who scored 5 runs in the opening three innings. That was enough of a cushion for the visitors to cruise to a 6-2 win in the series opener.
Soler and Braves light up Astros early in Game 1
Jorge Soler wasted no time, taking the third pitch of the night yard with a lead off home run to get the Braves wheels turning in Houston. Soler’s homer was the first time there has ever been a lead off home run in the first plate appearance of a Fall Classic.
The hits kept coming for Atlanta who would go on to score one more run in the top of the first, another run in the second, and two more in the third inning. No other team in the 117 year history of the World Series has started Game 1 of the series scoring in each of the first three innings.
Morton out for rest of series with fractured fibula
The only bad news for the Braves came in the bottom of the third inning when starting pitcher Charlie Morton had to leave the game after being hit in the leg on a comebacker the inning before. X-Rays showed that Morton suffered a fracture to his right fibula and will be forced to miss the rest of the series.
The Astros must now turn all their attention to Game 2, as they look to avoid going down 0-2 at home.
