SERIE A

"These Lazio fascists want to humiliate me"

Serie A side Lazio have condemned the line of dialogue that appears in the Amazon Prime show based on the life of Diego Maradona, 'Blessed Dream'.

Update:
Maradona - Amazon Prime

The new Amazon Prime series "Maradona, Blessed Dream", showcases the life of the Argentine player from his early life growing up in Villa Fiorito in Buenos Aires, to his time playing with Argentinos Juniors, Boca, Barcelona and Napoli. A passage of dialogue from his time with the Serie A side has angered Italian side Lazio after the actor playing Maradona claims: "these Lazio fascists are out to humiliate me".

Lazio issued an official statement to portray their displeasure from the scene stating: "We will let the public judge the quality of Amazon Prime's “Maradona” series. However, we can only define as  ridiculous those few seconds that we have seen, in which a completely arbitrary and improbable sentence is attributed to Maradona: “Those fascists want to humiliate me”. Lazio at the time was certainly not in a position to stop Napoli from fighting for the Scudetto and the reference to fascism, is hateful because it is evoked with a clear defamatory intent. Maradona himself, has shown on many occasions to be a friend of Lazio and was our guest at Formello where he sung the club song and swapped shirts with our players.

We will convey our concerns to Amazon Prime and request that offending scene be cut".
