With half of the 2021 NFL campaign already complete, time is running out for the players to show off their credentials before the end of the regular season in January marks the start of the voting for the NFL MVP Award.

Generally, the voting for NFL MVP is opened after the regular season ends and right before the playoffs kick off. This means this year's voting process will open somewhere in between January 9 and January 15.

Once the voting is closed, the winner will be announced the day before the Super Bowl is held, that is to say, February 12 is set to be the date for the 2021 MVP winner to be revealed to the public.

Although the date and location for the 2022 Super Bowl have been confirmed - February 13 at the SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California - the host and network covering the event are still to be announced.

Brady in the lead to take 2021 MVP home

As the MVP race reaches its halfway point, three chief potential winners have emerged. However, things are not done for other competitors as there is still plenty to happen within the 10 weeks remaining.

Nevertheless, at the moment the top three contenders to potentially win the prize are Buccaneers QB Tom Brady, Bills QB Josh Allen and Arizona's Kyler Murray.

Despite being surpassed in the odds by Allen following Arizona and Tampa's defeats at the beginning of November, Brady has managed to retake his spot as the favorite to win the award.

The third in line in the MVP odds this year is Murray, who remains really close to Allen and is also a tough competitor who might pose a challenge to Brady's prospects of winning.

Some players to keep an eye on between now and January 9 are Rams QB Matthew Stafford, who still has a great chance of becoming this year's MVP, coming fourth in line for the MVP award. Despite his slow start, the Packers' Aaron Rodgers has managed to slip into the top 5, although he will have to stay on top form if he wants to rise in the list.
