How many Dallas Cowboys players are in the NFL Hall of Fame?

The Dallas Cowboys officially recognize 20 former players/coaches and contributors as members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame after their latest three additions in 2021. That year saw Drew Pearson and Cliff Harris joined by former coach Jimmy Johnson as HOF inductees.

The Cowboys, one of the most highly regarded franchises in NFL history, have a total of 29 Hall of Famers who were part of their organization for at least a year.

However, legends like Bill Parcells, Terrell Owens, Mike Ditka and Herb Adderley didn’t play or coach long enough to be fully recognized with the NFL team that has the most fans.

Bob Lilly, Defensive End/Tackle (1961-1974)

Inducted in 1980

Bob Lilly was the first player drafted by the Cowboys in 1961 and the franchise’s first player inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980. He was named in both the 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time Teams, the All-Decade Teams in the 1960s and 1970s, and was also named a first-team All-Pro seven times (1964-1969, 1971). In addition, Lilly has a Super Bowl ring (VI) and 11 Pro Bowl selections.

Roger Staubach, Quarterback (1969-1979)

Staubach is a member of the 100th Anniversary Team and the 1970s All-Decade Team. He won the Super Bowl twice (VI, XII), taking home the Super Bowl MVP once (VI). Staubach owns the second-most passing yards in club history, 22,700.

Tom Landry, Coach (1960-1988)

Inducted in 1990

As a Cowboys coach, Landry compiled a 270-178-6 record in his career, the third-most wins in the NFL history. He led the franchise to two Super Bowl titles, five Super Bowl appearances, five NFC Championships, 13 division titles and 20 consecutive winning seasons, between 1966 and 1985.

Tex Schramm, President/General Manager (1960-1988)

Schramm is considered the architect of the Cowboys’ success. Better known as ‘Tex’, he spent 29 seasons as president and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. During that time, the franchise won two Super Bowls (VI, XII). An innovator, he was instrumental in creating the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the first of their kind in professional football.

Tony Dorsett, Running Back (1977-1987)

Inducted in 1994

Dorsett won the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1977. He was named a first-team All-Pro in 1981, a second-team All-Pro in 1982 and ‘83, and won a Super Bowl ring (XII).

Randy White. Defensive Line/Linebacker (1975-1988)

Inducted in 1994

White was named to the 100th Anniversary All-Time Team and the 1980s All-Decade Team. He was named a first-team All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl in nine straight seasons (1977-1985). His one Super Bowl victory (XII) saw him earn Super Bowl MVP.

Mel Renfro, Defensive Back (1964-1977)

Mel Renfro began his career with 10 straight Pro Bowls. He was named a first-team All-Pro in 1969 when he led the league in interceptions (10). He won two Super Bowls as a Cowboy (VI, XII).

Troy Alkman, Quarterback (1989-2000)

Inducted in 2006

Aikman is one of the most decorated QBs with three Super Bowl rings (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX). He won the Super Bowl MVP once (XXVIII) and went to six straight Pro Bowls (1991-1996).

Rayfield Wright, Offensive Line (1967-1979)

Inducted in 2006

A member of the 1970s All-Decade Team, Wright was named a first-team All-Pro in three straight seasons between 1971-1973. Wright was named to the Pro Bowl in each of those six seasons. He won two Super Bowl rings (VI, XII).

Michael Irvin, Wide Receiver (1988-1999)

Inducted in 2007

Named in the 1990s All-Decade Team, Irvin was the receiving yards leader and a first-team All-Pro in 1991. Irvin was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX).

Bob Hayes, Split End/Wide Receiver (1965-1974)

Inducted in 2009

Hayes is the only person in history to win both an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl ring., He led the league twice in receiving touchdowns, was selected a first-team All-Pro twice, and went to three Pro Bowls.

Emmitt Smith, Running Back (1990-2002)

Smith had a very decorated career: NFL MVP in 1993, 1990s All-Decade Team, NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, four first-team All-Pro Selections, four times the rushing leader in the league, three Super Bowls (XXVII, XXVIII, XXXX), and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year just to name a few.

Deion Sanders, Defensive Back (1995-1999)

Sanders won one of his Super Bowls (XXX), was named a first-team All-Pro three times, and to the Pro Bowl four times while in a Cowboys’ uniform. Moreover, he was named to the 1990s All-Decade Team and the 100th Anniversary Team.

Larry Allen, Offensive Line (1994-2005)

Inducted in 2013

Allen was selected as a first-team All-Pro at guard in seven straight years (1995-2001). Allen was also selected to the 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, and both the 1990s and 2000s All-Decade Teams. Moreover, he won a Super Bowl (XXX).

Charles Haley, Defensive End/Linebacker (1992-1996)

Inducted in 2015

Haley was selected as a first-team All-Pro once with the Cowboys and won three of his five Super Bowl rings in Dallas (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX).

Jerry Jones, Owner/President/General Manager (1989-present)

Inducted in 2017

Within five years, the Cowboys won their first Super Bowl under Jones (XXVII), before adding two more in the next three years (XXVIII, XXX). He was the first owner to win three Super Bowls in the first seven years of ownership of an NFL franchise.

Gil Brandt, Vice President of Player Personnel (1960-1988)

Brandt was a huge part of the success of the Cowboys. The combination of Schramm, Brandt, and Landry is one of the best trios of coaches and front office in NFL history.

Jimmy Johnson, Coach (1989-1993)

Inducted in 2021

Jimmy Johnson was only the Cowboys’ coach for five seasons. In that period the Cowboys won the Super Bowl twice (XXVII, XXVIII) and won 36 games across his final three years. He won the AP NFL Coach of the Year in 1990.

Drew Pearson, Wide Receiver (1973-1983)

Drew was a member of the 1970s All-Decade NFL team and led the league in receiving yards in 1977. He was selected as a first-team All-Pro three times, won a Super Bowl (XII), and went to three Pro Bowls.

Cliff Harris, Defensive Back (1970-1979)

Inducted in 2021

With four straight first-team All-Pro selections, Harris was selected to the 1970s All-Decade Team. He was also named a second-team All-Pro in 1974, to the Pro Bowl six times, and won two Super Bowls (VI, XII).
