An ‘overwhelming number’ of Bears players want Matt Nagy fired

For the second straight season, the Chicago Bears have lost five consecutive games, and fans are not keeping quiet about the team’s losses under coach Matt Nagy.

Following Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Soldier Field witnessed a frustrated crowd of fans chanting “fire Nagy,” and 24 hours later, the United Center saw the same thing: Chicago fans at the Bulls game vs Indiana Pacers continuing the chant.

But it seems that fans are not the only ones frustrated with Nagy. NFL insider Jordan Schultz, shared Monday that there are “an overwhelming number” of Bears players who want Nagy fired.

The Bears have never fired a coach mid-season, but if Chicago scores another loss to the winless Detroit Lions, things might really hit the fan for Nagy. Not to mention the next few games will be against the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers, which might take a while for the Bears before their next victory.

Another loss for the Bears would mark their second year of a six-game losing streak. And with their rookie quarterback Justin Fields listed as “questionable,” it’s hard to foresee a triumph. Fields, who has been showing significant improvement as a rookie in the last few weeks, left the third quarter of the Ravens game with a ribs injury.

Coach Nagy told reporters that he is unaware of the extent of Field’s injury, and whether there is anything severe. "I have no idea," Nagy said. "I'll have to find out. We'll start getting into some of that later on."

There is no doubt Nagy is standing on the edge of his career with the Bears this season, but if Chicago finds a way to win their next game, things could possibly turn around.
