Will CeeDee Lamb play on Thanksgiving against Raiders?
Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffered a concussion in a loss to the Chiefs in Week 11. Dallas will play the Raiders on Thanksgiving after a short week.
Dallas’ top wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was forced to leave the Cowboys’ loss to the Chiefs after suffering a concussion just before halftime. It will be a race against time for Lamb, who is hoping to get back to action when the Cowboys take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Thanksgiving.
CeeDee is Dak's favorite target
The second year receiver was held out of the rest of the game after going through concussion tests on the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium.
Lamb is Dak Prescott’s top receiving threat with 50 receptions, 740 yards, and six touchdowns. When he went down the Dallas offense took an immediate hit, and the Cowboys failed to score a touchdown in the second half.
Lamb has not yet been given the green light to put the pads on for the Turkey Day showdown, but the Cowboys remain optimistic as their best pass catching threat remain questionable.
Lamb practiced on Wednesday
"He hasn't missed a step on a short week," said Dallas coach Mike McCarthy. "Just as we discussed on Monday, if he's able to keep progressing through, we see him as available for the game."
McCarthy was able to evaluate Lamb’s performance in practice on Wednesday before meeting with with Cowboys doctors and a neurologist to see if would be cleared to play.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott was impressed by what he saw from Lamb and expects to have his best set of hands available for Thursday’s game.
Dak gives Lamb the green light
"He was great today," Dak Prescott said "Did everything, got a little session in with him [Tuesday]. I think that was like his check off for the most part and we did some double moves, things like that to make sure obviously just the balance and turning the head and he didn't feel anything from it, so I don't think we have any limitations going into the game with him."
While Lamb looks like he is on he verge of a quick comeback the Cowboys will still be without Amari Cooper for a second straight game. He was placed on the reserve/COVID list. The earliest he could comeback as an unvaccinated player is before the Dec. 2 game against the New Orleans Saints.
The Cowboys will continue their long standing tradition of playing on Thanksgiving when they host the Las Vegas Raiders at 4:30 p.m. ET from AT&T Stadium.
