The Green Bay Packers returned to their winning ways after defeating the Los Angeles Rams in Lambeau Field on Sunday afternoon. The Pack capitalized on the Rams turnovers as Aaron Rodgers threw for over 300 yards.
Both teams came in reeling
It was dubbed as America’s game of the week, and it lived up to the hype. Two teams with Super Bowl aspirations, two teams desperate to keep pace in the race for home field, and two teams entering the game on the midst of a midseason slump.
Los Angles had lost two in a row before going into their bye week, and had time to get healthy and incorporate some of the new faces on the roster into the team. Reports leading up to the game indicated that Rams QB Matt Stafford was battling a back injury, along with an arm injury.
The Packers got a big boost pregame when it was announced their running back Aaron Jones would be coming back after missing the game against the Minnesota Vikings. Aaron Rodgers was with out one of his top offensive lineman, David Bakhtiari and he had to deal with a broken toe that bothered him against the Vikings last week.
Rodgers battling broken toe
Rodgers didn’t practice all week, but got some early help from his defense when Matt Stafford was strip sacked by Rashan Gary and the Packers recovered deep in Los Angeles territory. It would be the first of three possessions the Packers would start inside the Rams 30 yard line.
The Rams battled back in the second quarter after turn overs on two of their first three possessions. They were able to overcome their early mistakes to take the Packers to halftime trailing the home side by just three points.
Big 3rd quarter led Packers to vicotry
The Packers used a monster third quarter to stretch a three point halftime lead to 19 points going into the final quarter. Rodgers orchestrated a nearly eight minute touchdown drive to start the third quarter to stretch the lead back to double digits.
Just minutes later the Packers had the ball back, but were forced to punt. J.J. Koski fielded the punt, but was stripped and lost the fumble when Krys Barnes recovered inside of the Rams 30. The Packers had to settle for a field goal, but on the next Rams possession Rasul Douglas picked off Matt Stafford and took it to the house on a 33 yard return to give the Packers a 36-17 lead late in the third quarter. It was the third straight game that Matt Stafford had an interception taken back for a touchdown.
The Rams made a comeback bid in the fourth quarter, but by then the deficit was to big and an onside kick recovered by the Packers sealed the game to take the Packers to 9-3 on the season.
Rodgers adds to MVP campaign
Rodgers ended the day with 307 yards and two touchdowns, while Davante Adams had eight catches for 104 yards.
Matt Stafford had 302 yards and three touchdowns, but his fumble early on and his pick six in the third quarter diminished the Rams chances of putting an end to their losing streak.
The loss to Green Bay makes it three in a row, and the Rams will have to try to keep pace against in the NFC West against the Jacksonville Jaguars next week.

Douglas almost comes up with another pick after Beckham fell down. He let it go right through his hands, and that one was a much easier catch than the last pick he had.

Turnovers are killing the Rams.

So a whole lot of hooplah for nothing. The Packers can't move the chains after the flag, and will punt from their 49 yard line on 4th and 3.
Great punt and even better coverage, but better news for the Packers is an offisde flag will give the Packers a first down and GB will contine their drive from the GB 42.
