Cassano explains Cristiano Ronaldo Whatsapp spat
The former Italy striker revealed that the Portuguese forward asked him for more respect: "What's your problem, Cristiano? Be more like Messi," he replied.
Antonio Cassano enjoys grabbing some headlines long after his professional career has ended. Clearly I could choose to ignore his latest mutterings, as we normally do, but this one caught the eye, being that it involved a direct conversation with one of the protagonists in the eternal debate about Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
"Be like Messi" Cassano tells Ronaldo
The Italian was sharing his private conversation on Christian Vieri's Twitch channel, BoboTv, where he rarely sits on the fence, especially when it comes to commenting on the performances and contribution of some of the greatest players to have graced The Beautiful Game. And it seems that a comparison Cassano made between Cristiano and Ronaldo Nazario, in which he praised the Brazilian more, did not please the current Manchester United star.

"Cristiano wrote to me on Whats App asking for more respect for everything he has won and for the goals he has scored," revealed Cassano. "I am not afraid to tell the truth, I'll face the whole world, from the Pope to the last person on this earth."
As it turns out, the link between the two was Italian goalkeeping legend, Buffon.
Antonio Cassano: "Let's stop playing games: is Cristiano Ronaldo the best player in history? He's not even in the top five. For me, Messi, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff and 🇧🇷 Ronaldo are on another level." 😵 pic.twitter.com/AQPpwSaQqv— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) October 19, 2021
"I asked Gigi how he [Ronaldo] could have my number and he confirmed that he had given it to the press officer, who passed it on to Cristiano.
"He told me that he had scored 750 goals and I had only scored 150.
"Be like Messi," Cassano repled, "who doesn't care about anything, instead of writing to me."
Cassano then closed the subject.
"Buffon and Chiellini know that this made me angry. Cristiano, what's wrong with you? What's your problem?"
