2021 gave us several moments of sports glory and competition, but let's take a look at some of the more lighthearted moments that made us laugh in 2021.

2021 was a tough year, but we got through it. Sports are always a good way to bring people together and take minds off the troubles of the world, but sometimes we get so caught up in the competition of it all, we forget to laugh.

So let's take this time to recall some of the funniest moments in sports that happened in 2021. From awkward reporters to losing shorts on the basketball court, this year was not short on its funny sports moments.

10. Burnley vs Arsenal - the goal off Chris Wood's chest

This may have been less funny for Arsenal fans, but if you can stay neutral, it's pretty funny still. Arsenal's goalkeeper blocked a shot and fed it back to Xhaka, who then tried to keep it out of the back and passed it right to Wood, who bounced it off his chest and into the goal.

9. Dwight Howard gets his shorts ripped off

Again, Howard himself wasn't too happy in this moment, but it's definitely entertaining for everyone else watching, and that's what matters. It was less funny to Howard because he was the one called for a foul and later a tech for complaining about the foul, though it was him who had his shorts ripped off. Poor Dwight.

8. Reporter asks Haaland awkward question

After Erling Haaland failed to score a hat-trick, a reporter asked him a sort of bizarre and definitely awkward question. "Are you going to sleep lonely tonight?" Haaland's response was equally awkward. "Uh...yeah." I wouldn't know how to respond to that either, to be fair.

7. Carmelo Anthony's pump fake

Here's one where even 'Melo had to laugh at himself. After one free throw, he went to shoot a second, but looked to pump-fake the second and was called for a violation. But why on Earth would anyone pump fake a free throw? Here was Anthony's response: "That was funny as Hell! I went up and the ball hit my forehead, so if I continued, I would've air-balled. I was like, 'I'm not taking the airball.' I'd rather take the violation than the airball."

6. Mina's penalty dance

In the Copa America Colombia vs Uruguay game, Colombia's Yerry Mina scored a spot-kick during a penalty shot and couldn't help but start dancing immediately. Not only was his dance silly, but the way he just trotted up slowly to the ball and then immediately broke into dance combined for a moment that you can't help but smile.

5. McKennie's reaction to fast Spanish

When the US beat Mexico in the Nations League final, a reporter from Mexico asked Weston McKennie a question, but he introduced himself first. He was informing McKennie that he works for the "“José Ramón Fernández de México Agency", but said it so fast that it seemed to have really thrown McKennie off. His hilarious facial expression looks frightened and confused.

4, Trae Young's topple/push-ups

In a game against the 76ers, Trae Young gets basically run over by Dwight Howard, which was already pretty funny to witness because of the way Howard goes right over his head. Then Young, being the character he is starts doing push-ups as if he's playing off the fall to the floor.

3. Otte falls over tennis net in US Open

During the US Open, Matteo Berrettini made an excellent play, but it was overshadowed by Oscar Otte, who stumbled and fell over the net trying to respond to the hit. Unfortunately, the German did end up injuring his wrist, but in a heartwarming gesture, Berrettini encouraged the crowd to applaud Otte after he stuck it out until the end rather than retiring injured.

2. Reporter scared by Pelicans mascot

This unassuming reporter was in the zone and focused. The New Orleans Pelicans mascot, Pierre (who is already a pretty creepy-looking dude as it is) walks up quietly and stands beside her without her noticing. When she finally does, she screams and jumps, which makes the bird jump too and run/fly off.

1. Ravens fan's Zoom work call at game

A hardcore Ravens fan came to an NFL game against the Colts with a green screen strapped on behind him, apparently on a work call, but hiding it. Staged or not, we can all relate to being on a work call and wishing you were somewhere else. This guy just actually decided to pursue it.
