The recent increase in covid-19 cases throughout the NFL has caused the league to postpone some games of Week 15.

Saturday to Monday

The game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Cleveland Browns scheduled for Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. PT will now be held on Monday with kickoff at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT. It will be broadcast exclusively on the NFL Network.

More than 20 players of the Browns, including 11 starters, have been added to the reserve/covid-19 list during the past week.

Sunday games postponed

Two Sunday games have been put off as well. The matchup between the Washington Football Team and Philadelphia Eagles will now take place on Tuesday with kickoff slated at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. The showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams will also air at the same time. Both games will be broadcast on FOX.

Players from both Washington and Los Angeles have been undergoing covid-19 protocols the past week due to a big number testing positive for the virus.

NFL heeds medical advice

“We have made these schedule changes based on medical advice and after discussion with the NFLPA as we are seeing a new, highly transmissible form of the virus this week resulting in a substantial increase in cases across the league,” the NFL said in a statement.

“We continue to make decisions in consultation with medical experts to ensure the health and safety of the NFL community."

The NFL has already implemented new protocols due to the surge in covid-19 cases.

Because of the postponement of the Week 15 games, the teams affected will have shortened weeks heading into their matches in Week 16.
