Álvaro Morata is set to join FC Barcelona this week with sources confirming to AS that the deal is "95% completed with just fine tuning needed". The move which will see the striker move to Camp Nou on loan for the rest of the season (at minimum) is locked down with Juventus with just parent club Atlético Madrid needing to agree any future purchase plans.

Morata and his agent Juanma López are hoping that a deal would see the striker play for Barcelona for a minimum of 18 months is set to be concluded in the early part of the week and that the striker could be presented in the 'azul-grana' shirt following Barcelona's mid-week Copa del Rey clash away to Linares Deportivo.

Spanish Super Cup debut?

Xavi is hoping to be able to count on Morata's services for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Madrid on 12 January with the onus now on the Catalan club to reduce the overall wage bill with the recent additional acquisitions of Dani Alves and Ferran Torres.
