The Korean entertainment company, Pinkfong, popularized the song 'Baby Shark'... how much money have they made since its release in 2016?

In 2016, the South Korean entertainment group Pinkfong released their version of the popular children's song "Baby Shark." This month the song became the most-watched video on YouTube with over ten billion views. The song knocked Despacito out of the top spot and at this point has around three billion more views than the reggaeton hit.

How much has the song made?

The entertainment site, Celebrity Networth estimates that the family that owns the copyrights to the song had made around $120 million as of January 2020.

Where did the song come from?

Many who have been to summer camp may have heard the song, which is commonly known as a campfire song. The song goes through the members of a family, described as sharks, showed to be an inspiration for the movie Jaws.

The song, which was released by Pinkfong, made it onto the top charts across the world, and now various brands are working with the entertainment company to create products inspired by the song. This included a deal with Kellogs to produce a cereal brand named after the song, which was launched in 2019.

What is the order of the sharks in the Baby Shark song?

First comes baby shark, then mama shark, followed by daddy, grandma, and finally grandpa shark.

Some people criticized the Korean version of the song as it used very gendered language to describe each of the members of the shark family. For example, when describing mama shark the lyrics say "pretty in the sea" whereas when talking about daddy shark it calls him "strong."
