Ecuador are closer to a place in Qatar and Brazil remain a-top of the CONMEBOL group.
Cheers for your company this evening in what was at least an 'eventful' clash in Quito.
Ecuador's Plata speaking post game: 'The ref spent more time looking at the monitor than he did on the pitch'. To be fair to the referee, he did over-turn four of his own decisions and got the calls pretty much right.
FT in Quito and it's ends in a 1-1 draw. A result that will be well received by both sides. A game that had everything, red cards, revised penalty decisions and goals.
The fans are certainly incensed with all the revised decisions going against Ecuador.
Ecuador seem to have settled for the point as they knock the ball around with limited intent.
No penalty seems to be the decision and the card against Alisson is over-ruled... my word, high drama and tension here in Quito. Still about 3-4 minutes remain.
All of these decisions have been borderline and tough calls to make. Every credit to the ref. for looking to the video assistance as by and large he's made the right calls on each occasion.
The Colombian official is in touch with the VAR booth and once again he'll consult the monitor. My hunch is that he will over-rule the decison again.... let's wait and see.
Alisson has also been awarded a yellow, his second which would see another player face the penalty should there be one.
Another big call for the ref. to make and surely he will need to consult the monitor.
The referee consults the linesman with Brazil furious about the decision. Will we go VAR again as it appears that the Liverpool keeper plays the ball before clipping the striker.
Penalty for Ecuador as Alisson clips an Ecuador striker !!!! Last minute drama here in Quito.
We'll have 5 minutes of added time.
Final minute of normal time. Brazil remain unbeaten and Ecuador secure a valuable point in their quest to make it to Qatar.... everyone goes home happy !
Ecuador still pressing but with less vim and vigor now that they look like securing a valuable point against the unbeaten Brazil.
Mendez and Carcelen come on for Ecuador with Estrada and M. Caicedo make way.
The fans are fired up now as they sense that Brazil are there for the taking. Alves almost finds Gabriel Jesus in a quick counter from Tite's side. Not sure what Dani Alves eats for breakfast but he defies his age (38) with a ton of energy and has delivered some inch perfect long range passes tonight.
If the game remains level, Ecuador would just need three points from their final three games as they face Paraguay, Peru and Argentina.
Ten minutes remain in Quito. The home side seem to have taken their foot off the gas ever so slighlty.
Gabigol on for Cunha
M. Caicedo carded
So, do Ecuador keep the pressure up or do they sit back and settle for the 1-1 draw ? The certainly have the wind in their sails and have been the better side over the 77 minutes or so.
Goooooooooooool. Torres nods Ecuador level. Plata corner and the Santos Laguna man heads past Alisson.
Valencia carded
It's all one way traffic now as Ecuador press and look for a way past the men in blue. Ecuador now forced to opt for long range shots but the Brazil defensive line doing their job in averting the danger.
Romario Caicedo on with Franco the player who leaves the pitch
Gruezo off with Preciado his replacement
Wave after waves of Ecuadpr attack now as Brazil sit deep and invite pressure from the home side.
Antony and Gabriel Jesus on for Brazil. Vini Jr and Raphinha make way.
Dani Alves and Fred on the ground with Brazil in little hurry to keep the game flowing.
Thirty minutes remain in Quito.
Ecuador are still full of zip and look like a really good side with Plata, Valencia, Caicedo looking sharp.
The penalty is over-ruled and probably the correct decision as Estupiñan did seem to be looking for a spot kick.
Tough one to call, but it does look like the Villarreal man does dive as he is clipped by Raphinha.
Raphinha was the Brazil man who made contact with Estupiñan as the Brazil players argue the validity of the decision with the match official. The ref. will now consult the pitch-side monitor.
Penalty for Ecuador.... Estupiñan fouled in the box and the Colombian official points to the spot.
What a run from Plata as he jinks past three Brazil players and just as he was about to pull the trigger, out stepped Alisson to rob the ball.
Casemiro shoots from long range but drives high and wide. Plenty of space here in Quito with both sides down to ten men.
Casemiro steals in at the back post and drives the ball into the side netting as the Real Madrid man breaks the offside line to perfection.
Gooooooooool. Estrada scores but no.... had the ball crossed the by-line ? Very possibly as the ball is in the net but the goal will not stand.
Fine work from Ecuador as Plata combines with Valencia as Alves saves the day for the men in blue. Electric start from Ecuador.
Ecuador immediately go for the jugular as they win a corner after 20 second of the half.
Off we go.Brazil start the second 45'
Fully expect Brazil to sit deep and hold onto their one goal lead. Ecuador have looked busy and lively but yet to really test Alisson.
The match officials and players return to the pitch with fingers crossed that the second half offers a little more in terms of football.
The whistle sounds and the first half comes to an end. Plenty of incident in the half with both sides down to ten men. Alisson also red carded but the decision was later downgraded to a yellow. Casemiro with the all important goal of the night which sees the 'Seleção' lead at the interval.
Brazil go close as Cunha strikes and the ball zips inches wide of the Ecuador post. The move started with an absolutely exquisite cross field ball from Alves who found Vini Jr.
Tension remains high here in Quito and the match remains an abrasive one with free flowing football something of a premium.
Estupiñan this time latches onto the free but the ball is wide for an Ecuador corner. The home side still knocking on the door as they look for an equaliser.
Once again, the card is out, Militao makes a mess of possession and has to foul Caicedo to stop the Ecuador attack.
We'll have ten minutes of added time as Estrada shoots but drills the ball wide of Alisson's post.
Valencia again heads from a free kick but as before fails to secure the required accuracy.
Another card with Brazil's Raphinha the latest name in the book
The game is a tense one with rash challenges flying in from both sides. Five minutes of normal time remain bit we'll have at least 7-8 minutes of added time for all the stoppages.
Ecuador back n charge now as they lay siege to the Brazil box.
The pitch here at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado looks very dry with the ball bobbling around with an uneven bounce at times.
Alves comes on for Coutinho.
What a incident packed start.... cards, fouls a-plenty but little in terms of football.
Mr Roldan changes the card from red to yellow and a let-off for Brazil and Alisson.
The Colombian ref does finally go to the pitchside monitor....
Alisson still on the pitch and arguing his case. Very little being played here in Quito with the yellow and cards dominating the action so far. At present it looks like there will be no VAR intervention and Brazil will have to play the rest of the game with 9 players.
Alisson now red carded for a collision with Valencia. A little harsh possibly from the Colombian referee. The Liverpool keeper's foot couldn't fail but to impact and I imagine that VAR will be consulted.

Brazil set to make a change too to compensate for the Emerson dismissal with Barcelona's Dani Alves set to come on.
What a five minute spell with both teams down to ten now!
Emerson gets a yellow... 2 yellows means an early bath with the Spurs man lashing out at Estrada.
Coutinho set to take this dangerous free kick. The ball drifts over the bar from the new Aston Villa man.
Change for Ecuador as Galindez (GK) comes on for Franco
Maybe the incident happened an inch outside the area? It's red for Dominguez. Blood coming from Cunha's neck and a free on the edge of the box is the verdict. It really was a terrible intervention from the Ecuador stopper.
Once again, the ref consults VAR and is going to consult the pitch side monitor.
Cunha writhes on the ground after a collision with the Ecuador keeper who seemed to kick the Atleti man in the face. Surely a spot kick and possible red for the keeper ?
Brazil very much buoyed now by the Casemiro goal. Not the best strike ever from the Real Madrid central player but a goal is a goal. The strike really has sucked the life from the home crowd who are noticeably less boisterous now.
Check over and the goal stands.
The Colombian ref. just double checking things with VAR. To be honest, I saw nothing wrong with the goal.

Cassemiro puts Brazil ahead. Ecuador unable to clear the ball from the corner as the Real Madrid player bundles the ball home.
First time we see Vini Jr on the ball as the Real Madrid winger wins a corner for his side.
Brazil very much on he backfoot in this opening five minutes as they look to take the sting out of the early Ecuador impetus.
Emerson was indeed carded for that earlier foul on Caicedo and the Spurs man will need to watch his step for the rest of the contest.
Valencia nods the cross but the ball drifts inches wide. The Fenerbahce man should have converted.
Emerson clatters into Caicedo and is lucky to escape without a card. Free for the home side.
Off we go at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado. Brazil looking to maintain their unbeaten run and 'La Tri' looking to take a step closer to a place in Qatar.
Colombia's Wilmar Roldan is our referee tonight !
Brazil in blue tonight as Ecuador start with their iconic yellow shirts and blue shorts.
Despite the 50,000 stadium capacity limit, the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado does look pretty full !
Ecuador national anthem being sung with great gusto from the starting XI, bench and 20,000 fans here in Quito.
National anthem time with that of Brazil first up.
Approximately 20,000 fans in Quito tonight with the yellow clad fans wearing face-masks with the pandemic very much an ongoing concern in Ecuador. A handful of yellow 'Seleção' shirts among the yellow of the home side. The Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado at 50% capacity tonight as a covid precaution measure.
Gustavo Alfaro has stated that just 4 from the remaining 12 points available should be sufficient for his side to secure their ticket to Qatar
It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid's Vinicius Júnior and Atlético striker Matheus Cunha link up this evening in Quito.
Iran advance to 2022 World Cup
With a narrow 1-0 win over Iraq earlier this evening, Iran became the 14th conformed nation at the Qatar World Cup. At present from CONMEBOL, just Argentina and Brazil have confirmed their places in the Gulf next November.
Ecuador currently occupy third position in the group with 'La Tri' set to face Paraguay, Peru and Argentina in the final three games with the Peru clash potentially pivotal in both nations aspirations of making it to Qatar.
This late January FIFA window has been brought around to compensate for previous round of qualifiers that had to be postponed due to the pandemic. The final two games of the CONMEBOL phase take place at the end of March with the top 4 sides advancing and the fifth place team having to play-off with an AFC team.
Only Brazil and Argentine remain unbeaten in the CONMEBOL qualifying group with a win tonight instrumental in taking Ecuador one step to qualifying for the World Cup after 'La Tri' missed out in securing a place at Russia 2018.

Team news: Brazil
The outlook for the Ecuadorians, led by former Boca Juniors manager Gustavo Alfaro, is highly encouraging though ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. They are currently in third place with 23 points. A defeat for Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Uruguay, combined with a victory for Ecuador, puts them very close to the World Cup in Qatar.
In the corresponding fixture (WC 2022 qualifying), played last year on Brazilian soil, the Seleção ran out 2-0 winners with Richarlison and Neymar on target. There's no PSG striker this evening with the player still troubled with an ankle injury with the Everton man failing to make Tite's call-up.
The Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in the capital is the setting for tonight's action which gets underway at 1600 (ET) / 2200 (CET). The 42,000 capacity ground being home to LDU Quito.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage from Quito (Ecuador) as 'La Tri' face Brazil in matchday 15 of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying process.
