Trinity Rodman added to USWNT roster for SheBelieves Cup
The United States women’s national team coach Vlatko Andonovski confirmed that the 19-year-old will replace injured Abby Dahlkemper in SheBelieves Cup.
Last week Trinity Rodman, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, became the highest-paid player in the history of US women’s professional soccer. The winner of the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League rookie of the year award signed a contract extension with the Washington Spirit worth $1.1 million.
"We're incredibly excited to have Trin as a part of the Spirit family for at least the next three seasons," Kris Ward, coach of the Spirit, said. "She has a truly special career ahead of her and makes us a better club on all fronts."
Opportunity with the USWNT
Now she will have the opportunity to represent her country in the upcoming SheBelieves Cup, which is scheduled to start on 17 February in Carson, California and end on 23 February in Frisco, Texas. Rodman will be replacing injured Abby Dahlkemper in the 23 players competing in the first matches of the year.
"She's doing really good in the league, but the national team is a completely different animal," said USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski. "We don't want to burn her out. We want to give her a chance to slowly adjust herself to the system, to the structure and to absorb information slowly step by step instead of throwing everything at her."
