Napoli's Hirving Lozano will not play against FC Barcelona
The Mexican playmaker suffered a shoulder injury while on duty with the national team in the first international window of the year.
Hirving Lozano has been dealing with several injuries throughout the current season and this has kept him sidelined for several games with club and country. The Napoli player has scored five goals and provided three assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.
Injury update
Lozano was called up for the Mexico national team for the first international window of the year for CONCACAF World Cup qualifying. The forward played the whole game in Mexico’s scoreless draw against Costa Rica on 30 January and three days later started the match against Panama.
Unfortunately, Lozano couldn’t finish the game because he suffered a shoulder injury and was replaced by Diego Lainez in the 66th minute. ‘El Tri’ was able to score a late goal to win the game, but Lozano had to undergo a medical examination to determine the severity of his injury.
The Mexican international returned to Napoli for further examination and it is now expected he will reach full fitness in the second week of March. This will rule him out of the two-legged series against FC Barcelona in the Europa League this month. Lozano will also miss the next three league games for Napoli and could make a return on 20 March against Udinese.
