The NBA All-Star weekend begins this Friday, February 17th, and the game will be played Sunday, February 19th, at the Vivint Arena, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The captains for each team are LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Which NBA team has the most All-Star players in the game?
In the starting lineups, the Dallas Mavericks have the most with two, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, although the Grizzlies could have two players if Ja Morant replaces Steph Curry and Jaren Jackson makes it into the game.
The Celtics could also have two players on the court if Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown coincided on the court at whatever point in the game.
How were the NBA All-Star teams chosen?
The head coaches for each team are Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla for the East and Nuggets coach Michael Malone for the West, were chosen because their teams have been exceptional in their conference. In addition, the captains, Giannis and James, were selected based on which two players had the most All-star votes by fans.
The starting lineups are chosen by a combination of votes by fans, players, and media. The head coaches select the reserves, seven players from their respective conferences. In addition, they cannot choose players from their own team. Captains Giannis and James chose their rosters from the pool of players who were selected as All-Stars.
