Fan favorite Caitlin Clark has decided to skip the 3-point contest on Friday amongst speculation as to why she doesn’t want to attend the event.

Clark has had another tough season as far as injuries are concerned. Despite breaking records and leading the Indiana Fever to a 17-10 record, the Fever superstar has missed four games due to back issues, which could be one of the reasons why she won’t be participating 100 percent at the WNBA All-Star weekend.
Why isn’t Caitlin Clark participating in the 3-point contest?
The easy and most direct answer? They asked, she said no. We can’t guess what is behind Clark’s decision to skip the contest, but we can speculate. Clark is known for her 3-point shooting and her step back long bombs are all over social media and Sportscenter. But, so far this season Clark is ranked No. 33 in 3-point conversion. She has only made 34 percent of her 3-point shots so far.

Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, the WNBA's two largest audience draws, are also absent.

She is tied in fourth place for average of 3-point shots made per game at 2.6 and is in fourth place as well for average points scored per game. You could say that she has a lot more to lose than to gain by participating in the 3-point contest.

Clark has been very discreet off the court about the refereeing in the league and the lack of respect she gets from league officials related to the physicality her opponents use against her. On the court she lets the refs know what she’s thinking and has made some comments about the situation in press conferences, but her frustration is obvious with the quality of the refs and the league’s lack of initiative in the matter. Is that why she’s not participating in the 3-point contest? Only Caitlin knows the answer to that question.

Despite missing out on the 3-point contest, fans will be able to watch her play in the All-Star game on Saturday, July 25 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
