Allie Long is a midfielder who was on the US women's national soccer team in 2019 that won the Women’s World Cup. She currently plays for the Gotham FC.

Allie Long, born Alexandra Linsley Long, has played soccer pretty much her entire life. That dedication to the sport paid off when she took part in the Women’s World Cup in 2019 playing on the US women's national soccer team that came out victorious once again to bring home the team's fourth title having won in 2015, 1999 and 1991.

She recently signed a new two-year contract with Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League in Harrison, New Jersey which will keep her close to her native Long Island. She joined the club in April 2021 via trade with OL Reign and will stay with the Goths through the 2023 season.

Allie Long’s career

Long was born in 1987 and from an early age has been playing soccer, taking part in youth leagues on Long Island, New York where she was born and grew up. She’s displayed talent since the beginning helping her team win four back-to-back State Open Cup titles.

She made it onto the varsity soccer team at high school her freshman year and the team went undefeated all four years she played. She received accolades for her skill at the beautiful game and participated with the Olympic Development Program.

Her success followed her through college playing first at Penn State then when she transferred to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also played on the US U-20 and U-23 national teams before being called up to be on the US women's national soccer roster in 2010.

Long played in three out of four games at the 2016 Olympics and earned Player of the Match honors. As of 2021, she’s scored six goals over 45 appearances with the US side.

In 2021 she reached another landmark becoming the sixth player in league history to make 150 appearances in regular season games in the National Women’s Soccer League. During her career in the league, which spans nine seasons, she’s made 35 goals and 16 assists in 173 appearances across all competitions.

So with so much success what is Allie Long’s net worth?

There are no solid numbers on Allie Long’s net worth but there are some data points that can let you know she isn’t doing as financially well as her male counterparts.

Across sports the pay gap between men and women athletes at times can be gaping. In the case of women’s soccer, the 28 members from 2019 World Cup team sued US Soccer that same year over unequal pay and treatment. The litigation is ongoing, but a judge agreed to a partial settlement between the players and the federation in the fall of 2021.

The payout for winning the World Cup to the US side was $4 million which was split among the team members. The Men’s US men's national soccer team, if they had won the 2018 World Cup in France, would have pocketed $38 million.

What is Allie Long’s salary?

As for Long’s salary, there were no details provided by the Gotham FC on how much she will be paid through 2023. But we can take a look at another player in the league and fellow teammate on the 2019 World Cup squad, Kristen Hamilton. She is one of the best women’s soccer players in the world winning three National Women’s Soccer League championships.

She told the Washington Post that her salary is $30,000 per year. Over the course of the nine-month season, in 2021 the most a player could hope to earn was $52,500.
