Tuchel condemns Chelsea fans for Abramovich chants

Chelsea's head coach Thomas Tuchel expressed disappointment that the fans were chanting the name of Russian owner Roman Abramovich. It wasn't the act that upset him, but the moment in which it happened.

All across England, soccer teams were showing their support for Ukraine on Saturday. It was no different at the Chelsea vs Burnley game, but while the applause for heroes of the war in Ukraine was occurring, some Chelsea fans chose that moment to start chanting the name of the Russian owner.

Abramovich recently announced that he would sell the club after pressure from British Parliament and accusations of having close links to Vladimir Putin. He's denied the claims and said he would donate the proceeds of the sale to the victims of the Russian invasion on Ukraine.

Tuchel was not pleased with the mixed messages, saying, "listen, if we show solidarity, we show solidarity, and we should do it together. We take the knee together and if an important person from our club or another club unfortunately dies, we show a minute of respect. It's not the moment to give other messages. It's the moment to show respect."
