Sergi Roberto to decline offer from LA Galaxy
The FC Barcelona midfielder would rather continue playing in Europe and Arsenal is keen on bringing him to the Premier League next campaign.
Sergi Roberto will become a free agent this summer. Barcelona has not met with him regarding extending his stay at Camp Nou and the versatile player is considering his options. The Spanish international is frustrated with the situation and he met with a representative from MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy two weeks ago to listen to their offer.
Currently, the Galaxy doesn’t have a designated spot open so they can only offer the Barça player a contract through the end of the 2022 MLS season, worth $1.5 million. As a free agent, Roberto can start negotiating a new contract with other clubs and according to The Sun, the 30-year-old has an offer from a Premier League club.
Arsenal keen on signing Roberto
Arsenal wanted to bring Sergi Roberto in the winter transfer window, but they decided not to pursue the move because he can arrive for free in the summer. The Spanish international’s contract with Barcelona ends on 30 June of 2022 and they have made it clear that it is better for him to leave at the end of the current campaign.
Roberto has only made 12 appearances across all competitions with the LaLiga side this season and has been dealing with a hamstring injury since November. It is expected that the Spanish international will recover by April and get some minutes before the season ends.
