Sunday night wraps up with a monster game in the Western Conference as the team with the best record in the league, the Phoenix Suns, and the struggling Los Angeles Lakers will square off from the Footprint Arena in Arizona.

Both the Lakers and the Suns will come into the night with some key names sidelined for this marquee weekend matchup.

Lakers injuries

The Lakers have dealt with injury problems all season long, and tonight will be no different. Anthony Davis has been injured since right before the All-Star Game with a mid foot sprain. While he is on the road to recovery and the Lakers expect him to return in the coming weeks he will be out for the next few games at least.

LeBron James also joined the injury report, although his prognosis is a bit more optimistic for tonight’s matchup with the league leaders. James is listed as questionable with a left knee ailment after his 50 point performance against the Wizards last game.

James’ knee has been bothering him for the last few weeks, but it hasn’t showed on the court. He has put up 50+ in two of his last three games, although he sat the game against the Spurs in San Antonio last week.

Talen Horton-Tucker is also probable with a left ankle sprain, while Malik Monk has been listed as probably with right shoulder soreness.

Suns injuries

The Suns have been dealing with their own health issues over the last month. Chris Paul is still recovering an avulsion fracture he suffered in his right thumb just before the All-Star break.

He is expected to miss a few more weeks as his thumb heal properly. Frank Kaminsky will also miss the home game against the Lakers with a right knee injury, while Cam Johnson has a right quad contusion which will keep him out for Sunday evening’s game.

Tonight’s game from the Footprint Arena will tip off at 9:00 p.m. ET, as the Suns look to keep their distance on the rest of the pack, while the Lakers look for a big win against a serious contender in the West.
