Carlos Vela helps LAFC remain undefeated

The Mexican international scored his fourth goal of the 2022 MLS regular season in Los Angeles FC’s 3-1 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps.

Another home game, another victory for the Los Angeles Football Club and they remain undefeated in the 2022 MLS regular season after defeating Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 at the Banc of California stadium. LAFC are in first place with 10 points in the Western Conference, ahead of Real Salt Lake on goal difference, and they have a record of three wins and one draw.

This is the third time in Los Angeles FC’s five year history that they remain undefeated after four games and they have equaled the team’s total from their record-breaking 2019 campaign, when they won the Supporters’ Shield. LAFC will have a two week break because of the international break and return on 2 April to play on the road against Orlando City.

Carlos Vela on top form

Every time the Mexican international is healthy, he proves why he is still one of the best players in Major League Soccer and on Sunday night he helped his team with a goal and an assist. Carlos Vela has tallys four goals this season in the first four matches and places him in a four-way tie in the top scorers in the league so far this season.

The 33-year-old has a goal and an assist in 61 of the 90 regular season games since making his debut in MLS in 2018. Also, Carlos Vela tallys 61 goals and 36 assists in Major League Soccer and the most by any player in LAFC’s history. The Mexican international is still waiting to receive a formal offer from the club to stay, but if not he will become a free agent in the summer.
