New Grammys up for grabs

It’s worth noting that the Grammys have expanded their categories with the inclusion of three new awards: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. expressed, “By introducing these three new categories, we are able to acknowledge and appreciate a broader array of artists.”

These additions are part of a series of “updates and amendments” to the Grammys, aiming to make the awards “more fair, transparent, and accurate,” according to Mason. Alongside these changes, two existing categories, Non-Classical Producer Of The Year and Non-Classic Songwriter Of The Year, have been moved into the general field of awards. This move allows the entire Grammys voting membership to participate in selecting the winners, whereas previously, these accolades were housed in genre-specific fields, limiting voting access to specific Grammy voters.
