OSCARS 2024
2024 Oscar nominations: who will announce the nominees?
We already have details about the ceremony for the latest round of Academy Awards, and very soon will know the nominees.
Last month, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the shortlisted finalists in 10 out of the 23 categories for the 96th Academy Awards, encompassing areas including documentary, international feature film, makeup and hairstyling, original score, and animation, among others. That left us awaiting the complete list of nominees, with some big hitters, some already successful in other awards, waiting in line.
Oscar nominees to be unveiled
And so here we now are, on the eve of the unveiling of those nominees, which takes place on Tuesday 23 January beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET / 5:30 a.m. PT. To be even more precise, check the list below.
The announcement, as confirmed in a press release from the Academy, will be globally broadcast on www.oscars.org, www.oscar.com, and all of the Academy’s digital platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. Additionally, viewers can catch the presentation on ABC’s Good Morning America and stream it on ABC News Live and Disney+. We’ll also be right across it live here if you want that special AS USA touch to proceedings.
The unveiling will be orchestrated by actress Zazie Beetz, from Deadpool 2, and actor Jack Quaid, renowned for his role in The Boys (both seen above). Tune in as they reveal the nominations live from the historic Samuel Goldwyn Theatre, adding an extra layer of excitement to the lead-up of this cinematic celebration.
Barbie and Oppenheimer are expected to pick up the largest number of nominations, with the likes of Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things and The Holdovers also expecting a few nods of appreciation.
When are the 2024 Oscars?
In an announcement last November, the Academy confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel would return as the host for the 96th Academy Awards. The live event is scheduled for Sunday 10 March 2024, and will take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. ABC will be broadcasting the ceremony live but we at AS USA will be taking you through it as the excitement unfolds in our own inimitable style.
Expressing their excitement, Bill Kramer and Janet Yang of the Academy shared their enthusiasm for Kimmel’s return.
“We are thrilled about Jimmy returning to host and Molly [McNearney] returning as executive producer for the Oscars. They share our love of movies and our commitment to producing a dynamic and entertaining show for our global audience.”
