‘Air’, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck: Plot, release date, cast, trailer
The film stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and follows Nike’s journey to land rookie Michael Jordan.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s will reunite on screen in the highly anticipated movie ‘Air’.
The film marks Affleck’s return to directing after his work on 2016′s ‘Live by Night’ and the 2012 hit ‘Argo’, which won Best Picture at the 85th Academy Awards.
“Matt and I are very excited for audiences to see Air and proud that it’s the first release from Artists Equity,” said Affleck in a January statement, per Variety.
“The movie was an extraordinary experience where we had the honor of working with some of the best cast and crew in the business, all of whom brought passion, persistence and creativity to a collective effort at recreating a remarkable and aspirational story.”
What’s the plot?
The film is the first project from Affleck and Damon’s Artists Equity, in collaboration with Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures.
The film focuses on the rise of Nike and Michael Jordan, who joined forces to create the Air Jordan brand. At the time Nike was second string to Converse, while Jordan was a rookie that had never stepped foot on an NBA court.
“‘Air’ reveals the unbelievable game-changing partnership between a then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand,” an official synopsis reads.
“This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.”
When will ‘Air’ be released?
‘Air’ will premiere in more than 3,000 movie theatres throughout the USA on April 5. After that, it will be available via streaming on Prime Video in more than 240 countries.
Who’s in the ‘Air’ cast?
Matt Damon plays Sonny Vaccaro, an executive of Nike’s basketball division tasked with breathing live into the department. Ben Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight.
The cast of ‘Air’ also includes Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler and Julius Tennon as James Jordan.
