Are Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez getting divorced? Affleck seen without wedding ring

Ben Affleck has fuelled speculation that he and singer Jennifer Lopez are heading for divorce after less than two years of marriage, amid reports that the celebrity couple no longer live together.

In images published by TMZ, Affleck could be seen no longer wearing his wedding ring on Friday, as the Hollywood actor and director arrived at his son’s school behind the wheel of his car. “As Ben moved the sun visor in his car, it became clear his left hand was a little lighter”, the entertainment news outlet said.

Spotted together at event earlier this week

On Thursday, Affleck and Lopez were seen together in public for the first time in more than a month, when the pair were snapped supporting their respective children at an event in Los Angeles.

A source told People magazine that Affleck and Lopez arrived separately - but on this occasion, both were seen wearing their wedding rings. Before this week, the last time they had been photographed together publicly was back on 30 March in New York City.

According to TMZ, Affleck moved out of the couple’s Beverly Hills mansion “a few weeks ago”, and is now renting a home in Brentwood, another upmarket suburb of Los Angeles. So far, neither he nor Lopez has commented publicly on the growing reports that they have called time on their relationship.

Why did JLo and Affleck break up in 2004?

In Lopez’s recent Amazon Prime documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, she and Affleck looked back on their initial period as an item in the early noughties, which ended when they called off their engagement in January 2004.

“Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding,” Lopez said. “We had a big wedding planned, like 14 ushers and bridesmaids, and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure.” Affleck added: “When Jen and I broke up before, the catalyst for that was the amount of scrutiny around our private life.”

Nearly two decades on from that split, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance in early 2021. The couple got engaged a year later, and married at a wedding in Las Vegas in July 2022.
