Update:

In an interview with shock jock Howard Stern, Ashton Kutcher shared a range of odd jobs he had growing up in Iowa, from moving lawns, to working as a roofer, manning the deli counter in a supermarket to skinning deer. However, he had a knack for entertaining, participating in his high school choir and acting society.

Kutcher jumped into the limelight as the not-so-bright Michael Kelso on the instant hit ‘That’s 70s Show’, which first aired in 1998. He went on to star in a number of movies over the years but his route to Hollywood fame got a helping hand from a chance encounter.

In 1997, while attending the University of Iowa Kutcher was approached by Mary Clarke in a bar and asked him if he’d ever thought of being a model. He told her no but that he had thought about becoming an actor to which she said, “well it’s a good way to be an actor.”

“Well, okay,” Kutcher replied and the next thing he knew he was in a modeling contest, which he won. From there it was off to New York City with $100 in his pocket for another contest. However, in that competition he met his match, Josh Duhamel.

“That’s a good-looking dude,” Stern admitted. “Handsome [SOB]. F***er,” Kutcher responded adding, “I was so f***ing upset at this guy for so long.”

However, some time later he ran into Duhamel again and Kutcher had to admit, “Yeah, you’re good looking. I had to give [hating him] up.”

“Coming in second is like the story of the life,” the ‘That’s 70s Show’ actor added laughing.
