Up-and-coming actress Bella Ramsey has told fans that a second season of ‘The Last of Us’ is likely if people keep tuning in.

The hit HBO show was released on January 15 and has since gone on to break the HBO record for the biggest episode one to two viewership jump ever. The show also earned a 97 percent critics rating and a 96 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on the popular video game, ‘The Last of Us’ takes place 20 years after a modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (played by Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

In a recent interview with BBC, Ramsey revealed that a second season is pretty likely to happen.

If people keep watching, I think [a second series] is pretty likely. It’s down to the guys at HBO.” the 19-year-old actress said. “There’s nothing confirmed yet so we’ll have to wait and see,”

How does Ramsey the attention her role has earned her?

The UK-born actress opened up to BBC about what it was like going back to her home of Leicestershire after such a big premiere in Los Angeles.

“It’s weirder seeing billboards locally than it was in LA,” Ramsey said. “I took my driving test the other day - which I failed - and during that, I kept driving past the billboards, which was quite strange.”

Even Ramsey’s family has joined in on ‘The Last of Us’ fandom, with the actress admitting they watch the show in support of her.

“It’s not the sort of thing they would normally watch,” Ramsey said. “My grandma sent a message to my mum last night saying, ‘it’s not easy watching but it is rather thrilling’. That’s what they are making of it.”

Who stars in ‘The Last of Us?’

Alongside Ramsey and Pascal who play the two lead characters, the series also includes names such as Anna Torv, Gabriel Luna, Ashley Johnson, Nick Offerman, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Melanie Lynskey, Murray Bartlett, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, and more.

The history of ‘The Last of Us’ video game.
