Ben Stiller back as Zoolander in Super Bowl commercial

While fans hope for a ‘Zoolander 3′ announcement, Ben Stiller briefly reprises his titular role as Derek Zoolander in Pepsi’s Zero Sugar Super Bowl commercial.

The commercial shows Stiller playing various roles, including an action hero, a man proposing to his supposed girlfriend, a man freezing to death and an astronaut before showcasing Zoolander with a can of Pepsi.

‘Zoolander’ is an American comedy following Zoolander (Stiller), a male model, who loses Male Model of the Year to his rival, Hansel (Owen Wilson). The film debuted in 2001 and stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Christine Taylor, Justin Theroux Milla Jovovich and Jerry Stiller.

It earned approximately $60.8 million at the box office.

Fifteen years later, the movie’s success was followed by a sequel titled ‘Zoolander 2′ which premiered in 2016. Stiller, Wilson, Ferrell and Taylor reprise their roles alongside new additions such as Penélope Cruz, Cyrus Arnold, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ariana Grande and Kristen Wiig among others.

It garnered approximately $56.7 million at the box office.

Oh, who is she?

In recent months, ‘Zoolander’ has had a resurgence in popularity on the internet with scenes from the film being used as meme templates, particularly on TikTok, Instagram and Twitter.

Probably the most famous template comes from a scene where Zoolander and Hansel make dramatic eye contact. Zoolander is seen with a joyous expression until he turns around and his face falls at the sight of Hansel whose smile also drops to glare at his rival.
