Beyoncé slows it down with surprise new ‘Cuff It’ remix
Beyoncé wows fans with remix of her song ‘Cuff It’ with help from viral TikTok DJ.
Beyoncé has been full of surprises the last few weeks, between her world tour announcement and now with a surprise digital release of a remix of her song ‘Cuff It’ from her latest album ‘Renaissance.’
The ‘Cuff It (Wetter Remix)’ was released on Friday, February 3, and changes the track quite drastically. Beyoncé's original track is upbeat, and groovy and has heavy funk and disco influences. While the remix slows down the track and features more of a sultry late 2000s R&B influence.
The remix takes vocals from the original track, along with new lyrics, and mashes them up with the instrumentals from Twista’s 2009 hit ‘Wetter’. Along with a new opening verse, Beyoncé's vocals also can be heard in various ad-libs throughout the track.
Collaborating with DJ Esentrick
DJ Esentrick is the artist who inspired the new track. The DJ went viral on TikTok after producing a mashup of Beyoncé's ‘Cuff It’ with Twista’s ‘Wetter’ in October.
The track quickly became a hit on the app and numerous clubs. Beyoncé, understanding the hype had to make the track an official song.
DJ Esentrick had been a part of the remix process for some time and had to keep the news a secret. He shared his gratitude on Twitter.
Twista also shared the news on his Twitter, by tweeting the digital download link along with three flame emojis.
As of the time of writing, “Cuff It (Wetter Remix)” is only available for digital purchase through Beyoncé's official website.
Busy Queen Bey
Beyoncé has not said anything regarding the song’s release. However, she’s been keeping incredibly busy lately with the announcement of her Renaissance World Tour and her nine Grammy nominations this year.
As of early Sunday evening, Beyoncé has already won one of her Grammy Nominations, for ‘Break My Soul’ in the Best Dance/Electronic Record category. This pushes her to 29 Grammy wins.
Meaning Beyoncé will only need 3 more Grammy wins to surpass the most awarded Grammy Winner of all time, Georg Solti with 31 awards total. A huge possibility for the artist as the remaining 8 categories have yet to be announced.
