Bonnie Tyler dies at 75: What was the cause of death?

The music world is mourning the loss of Bonnie Tyler. The legendary singer, best known for her worldwide hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” has died at the age of 75, her team announced through her official website.

Tyler’s family and representatives shared the heartbreaking news in a statement, saying the singer “passed away unexpectedly last night in a hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness she had been receiving treatment for.”

Bonnie Tyler had been battling serious health issues

The Welsh singer had undergone emergency surgery in May at Faro Hospital in Portugal after medical tests revealed she was suffering from a perforated intestine, a serious condition that can lead to a widespread infection.

In June, Tyler’s spokesperson confirmed that the artist had woken up from the medically induced coma she had previously been placed in, but said she remained “very unwell” and in intensive care.

Her team later shared another message on the singer’s website, adding: “We will issue another statement shortly, but for now we ask for privacy as we deal with this tragedy.”

Tyler became one of the most recognizable voices in music history thanks to hits including “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “Holding Out for a Hero” and “It’s a Heartache.”
