Gwyneth Paltrow credits Brad Pitt with ending Harvey Weinstien’s predatory behavior of her in the mid-1900s. “He leveraged his power and fame to protect me,” recounted the actress.

A video of Gwyneth Paltrow discussing her experience with former Hollywood producer and executive Harvey Weinstein has gone viral.
Paltrow is one of many women in the industry who was preyed upon by Weinstein. In 2019, she spoke with radio host Howard Stern about the events that occurred more than two decades earlier.
The actress is one of the most recognizable names to come forward and accuse Weinstein of inappropriate behavior and sexual assault. Paltrow credits her then-boyfriend, Brad Pitt, for ensuring that Weinstein never acted improperly again.
When did Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt date?
Paltrow and Pitt began dating in 1994, got engaged in 1996, and broke up in 1997. Nevertheless, the two have remained friends, in part because of Pitt’s actions to protect his partner after the attempted assult by Weinstien.
Paltrow describes Pitt’s confrontation of Weinstein as “fantastic”
In the interview with Stern from 6 years ago, Paltrow explained that 1996, while working on Emma, she was in a hotel room with Weinstein and “tried to make a pass at [her].” She told Stern she was shaken and very concerned about speaking out because it was early in her career, and she had just signed on to two movies with Weinstein.
The confrontation between Pitt and Weinstein occurred on the opening night of Hamlet on Broadway, where all three happened to be in attendence.
“It was like the equivilent of throwing [Weinstien] against the wall,” recounted Paltrow.
Pitt warned Weinstien against taking any action that would make Paltrow “uncomfortable.” The actress describes Pitt’s confrontation with Weinstein as “fantastic.”
“He levereged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet.” She told Stern, “Harvey was never inappropriate with [her] again.”
